What year did they start making cars have a sealed system so that gas won't evaporate out of your tank?

I have a 1993 ford probe gt that has been sitting for a while. I filled up the tank, and now its at the half mark.. i dont have an electric gauge.. Is my gas evaporating? Or had they started making sealed systems in 1993?
