Should I go to this banquet?

So my parents made my boyfriend and I break up though we both still really want to be together. No one else knows but our families and this friday our school is having a banquet. I don't know if I should go or not because I don't want people to be asking me why we aren't hanging out with each other (because I'll break down and cry and ruin everyones night). So what do you think? Should I go?
