I'll be a little more specific than "The match will light" answer. Not only will the match light, but due to the lack of gravity in space, the match will also burn in a spherical shape as apposed to what you see when you light a match for a candle. The flame gets it's shape here on earth due to gravity and the fact that heat rises. This is what gives a flame of a match its distinct wider base, and narrow tip here on earth. In space, since there really is no "up" or "down" and the absence of gratvity, the heat from the flame of the lit match would be allowed to escape in all directions, thus creating the sphere shaped flame. The only problem with trying to light a match in the space shuttle or ISS(International Space Station), probably isn't allowed because, if there was to be a fire to break out in the shuttle or ISS, it would be difficult to contain, and could possibley lead to the lose of billions of dollars. I don't think NASA or any other country who goes to space would want to take that kind of risk.

It is hard to believe that anyone is illiterate nowadays with schools and online trainings available. It is very sad. The only reason I can come up with is because the students faked their way through school thinking they were getting over on teachers when in fact they were just hurting themselves. Students tend to value what parents value- family, money, religion, school, morales, etc. So if there is no emphasis at home then it may not be important!

My pinky+ring fngr have been increasingly tingly/painfull since i hit my funny bone a week ago. should i worry?

i hit my funny bone on my left arm a couple times in a row last monday, fairly hard, and since then my left ring finger and pinky finger in particular have gone from tingly and numb-like to quite painful. it is difficult to open my hand fully with those fingers. it is even more difficult to grasp anything. my hand feels completely weak with the exception of my index finger and thumb. my middle finger felt fine until today, and now it too is starting to feel pain in the joints and limited in motion like the pinky and ring finger. my index finger and thumb feel fine, but the pain/pressure i feel in my others fingers seems to be increasing. is there anything i can do short of seeking medical attention for this? i do not have medical insurance and could not afford to pay out of pocket to have this looked at. does anybody know of this happening to someone they know? should i try to exercise that hand as much as possible to keep the muscles working, or should i just wrap it and leave it alone? soak it in warm or cold water maybe? any help at all would be appreciated. thanks everyone.

"The Da Vinci Code" or "Angels and Demons"?

Angels & Demons is the first book, and a far better one in my opinion. I thought the storyline was much more exciting, though The Da Vinci Code was more thought provoking. I over rotated when i tried to flip so the impact with water was worse because of the force of flipping. well that's not much to go on but it sounds like it may be heating up. Check your fan to see if its turning or restricted by dust and dirt. If the air flowing out is extremely warm there is a lot of heat building up. Open the case and see if there is a lot of dust inside. Particularly around the CPU. There will be a fan and heat sink on it. Look for dust clogging the fins on the heat sink. If the case fan isn't running you may have to replace the power supply (generally the fan is in it) or IF YOU ARE QUALIFIED you could replace the fan in the PS unit. (Use extreme caution there can be hazardous voltages there even after shutdown). All this relates to a heat issue that would be recognized by the fact that your system seems to be locking up after operating for a period of time. It can be other things too. lets start with this.

I am considering homeschooling my KG and Gr6 boys? I have a 4 month old baby at home. I have a good relationship with the boys, and they work great one-on-one with me when I help them with homework. They can be very hyper at school and are not so great at paying attention, and because of this aren't doing as well as they could. I would like to hear from anyone homeschooling and their experiences, positive or negative. I'm considering that it will be an uphill struggle at the beginning but once we're in the routine it should be pretty straightforward. There are some places that offer the resources and ignments for the kids and they complete them and send them back to the teachers for marking - then the other approach is for completely parent led teaching - which is better, easier to fulfill? 1 gallon of propane actually contains a little under 100,000 btu. You need to look at the rating plate on the burner and see how many btu it is rated at. Keep in mind that this number is the full capacity of the burner. If you turn the burner down, the btu output and fuel consumed will be less. uming for a minute you are talking about a regular BBQ tank, you have a little under 5 gallons. So that equates to about 450,000 btu's. Divide 450,000 by the btu rating and that is how many hours burning time you have on full heat. If you are throttling the burner down you're burn time probably wont double, but pretty close to it.

...my friend came over last night. I hadn't seen him in months. He took my 11 week old from my grandma and was talking and playing with him. I was a little nervous, I always am when someone else holds him, but my friend has a 22 month old so I figured he knows how to handle a baby. Well, I was standing about 10 feet away and when I turned around my friend (was sitting on the couch) bent down to get my sons pacifier off the floor and my son swung his head back and went flying! I did a total supermom dive and caught him before he hit the coffee table (and then the floor). He screamed bloody murder and tensed up really bad for a few minutes. Then he ate and went to sleep. Deep cut on finger and bruising?

I've had a cut from a mixer a week ago,on the index finger, the wound has sealed, not swollen, I use Iodine as antiseptic. However what bothers me is bruising on the places where the finger bends, so the joints. Is it possible for a cat to eat moth?

I recently lost my cat (4/1/09) and have been very suspicious to her where abouts. The day before she went missing, I noticed my neighbors had covered their lawn in moth. Concerned, I search online the purpose of this. I came back with multiple searches explaining this is a method used to get rid of unwanted cats in the area. The very next day my kitty is gone. I am so uneasy about this as everyone certainly understands. There are usually 8 or 9 other cats that roam the neighborhood along with her and since her absence, I have noticed most of them to be gone as well. Is it possible they could have ingested these moth becoming sick thus crawling away to die? Or do you think the person who did this could be so irritated at the local cats that they trapped them? I just don't know what to do and maybe I am being irrational to the fact that she's gone. Any ideas about cats eating moth?

No, it sounds pretty much like an upper respiratory infection, which is just a fancy way of saying you've got a really nasty cold. Colds are caused by members of a very large virus family- one with hundreds of members that cause all the symptoms you describe. They cause inflammation and swelling of the nasal pages and throat, and all the excess mucus will often block the eustachian tubes which link your inner ears with the back of the throat. Those tubes let you equalize pressure between the inner ear and the air around you- and are the reason you feel your ears "pop" on takeoff. When a tube is blocked partially or fully, you'll get a full feeling in the ear, and it can be painful. The gunk running down your throat and the stuffed up nose will cause you to open your mouth to breath when you sleep- sometimes even when you are awake, without you noticing. That will dry out tissues of the throat, and make it sore. Your head hurts most likely because of all the stuffiness, and viral infections do often just cause headaches. You're dizzy because your ears are blocked, which messes with your balance mechanisms. So yes, it's all nasty, and all part of a bad cold. You've evidently been pretty fortunate with colds in the past, and not gotten one so nasty, which is why this one seems so much worse. The Sudafed would actually be a great remedy for you, and you shouldn't discount it just because you don't need a prescription for it. It will help drain your nose, dry up the excess mucus, and let you breathe a bit easier. Draining the fluid will help open your eustachian tubes so the ears clear as well. And yes, the Vicks can give you a funky menthol taste in your mouth. Small amounts of it will melt into your mouth and onto your lips, getting into your mouth, It won't hurt you, it's just not very pleasant. To help you feel a bit better, I really suggest you get and take a cold remedy like the Sudafed or a generic version. Drink plenty of fluids, and given your sore throat, cold stuff will feel best most likely. The more moisture you get into your throat, the less it will hurt. Stay away from dairy products though. They won't hurt anything, but they make the throat feel coated and you want to clear it to rid the sensation. It will make you gag and make the throat hurt more. Get the room you are in cooler, which will help make breathing easier. You can sit in a steamy shower if you'd like some relief of the stuffy head, until your medicine can kick in. Sleep propped up, so your nose drains easier as well, and you are less likely to mouth breath. And hang in there. A respiratory infection is generally worse on days 3-5, and gradually eases off as the days p after that. Since it's a virus, a prescription medication isn't going to help, neither do antibiotics. Your body is the only thing that can deal with it. So rest, plenty of fluid, and nutritious foods are the order of the day. You can take Motrin or Tylenol (or generic versions) for the aches, pains, and headaches. Take the Sudafed or other cold remedy for help with that- just take care if it contains aspirin or Tylenol not to take it with more. I don't know why your friends have prescriptions, other than some doctors will give a script if you make enough fuss- and it's not good for you. Your doctors, while not necessarily having a good bedside manner, are at least treating you correctly and sensibly. That's better for you in the long run. Hope you get to feeling better in the coming days, dear. I really suggest some tissues with lotion for the poor nose, some cold medicine- like the Sudafed, a cold drink, some hot soup, comfy jammies, propped up in a chair with your favorite movie, and simply rest. And you will feel better in a few days.

I have an HP laptop with Windows XP, and since Wednesday I haven't been able to see my yahoo or hotmail. Whenever I go to the yahoo page, it loads, but when I click on mail, it comes up a white page. I tried to switch to clic mail, I can see how many emails I have, but when I click on a message I can't see nothing in the message, I cleared my cookies, my temp internet files, and did a spyware scan, even uninstalled yahoo messenger cause it all started when messenger kept coming up with script errors and I couldn't see ims coming through, now I can't reinstall messenger, and it didn't help the email problem.. Can anybody help out, please.. Thanks.

Would you take your car and just drive around with gasoline being 4$ a gallon? I was reading a recipe for a slow cooker and it said to brown the meat first. I thought the whole point of a slow cooker was you could cook raw meat in it and just let it cook all day. I've never used either a crockpot or a slow cooker. When I bought my slow cooker it said not to cook raw meat in it. What the heck? Can you cook raw meat in a crockpot? Is that the difference?
